Clinic:

Ahmanson Clinic
The Ahmanson Biological Imaging Division is the clinical arm of the Department. We provide all aspects of diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine services. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) imaging represent the centerpiece of our service and our research program. We operate at several sites including in-patient and outpatient clinics in Westwood and Santa Monica.

No other Pharmacology department in the world has a clinical molecular imaging component that provides diagnostic services for patients with cancer, neurological, or cardiac diseases. Being part of a basic science department enables us to merge modern biology concepts with cutting edge imaging techniques. This allows us to do translational research, i.e., applying knowledge acquired in small animal models using microPET, optical imaging, and microCT to human disease processes such as cancer. These novel molecular imaging assays are now used in the drug discovery process as well as for cancer treatment monitoring in animals and humans.
